Flow Chart Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to enhance your ability to use PowerPoint.  This assignment requires the use of autoshapes, textboxes, connectors, and a variety of drawing features such as grouping, grid, and ordering.  Additionally, you will work with custom animation and automatic timing.  You will add music or background sound. Finally, you will demonstrate your flowchart to the instructor.

Task: Create a flow chart that will “flow” automatically. This can be a topic of your choosing, but it should demonstrate a sequence of events, including the opportunity to make a decision.

Requirements:

  1. You are limited to 1 (one) slide.
  2. Use WordArt for a title – make it disappear before the start of your chart (see Exit on animation choices).
  3. At least 12 items/shapes should be included within the flow chart.
  4. Label the items and use a font size so that the label is easily readable.
  5. Utilize a cohesive color scheme.
  6. Use shapes consistently. Feel free to incorporate images as part of your overall scheme, filling in the shape with the image.
  7. Connectors should be used to join the items/shapes if appropriate.
  8. Incorporate a decision-tree at one of the points (Yes – No, etc.).  Note that the symbol for decision is a diamond. Once you make a decision, one branch should come to an end or circle back and the other branch continue to flow.
  9. Use the grid feature so that your items line up neatly and the spacing is appropriate.
  10. It is recommended that you complete all the items in the chart before you begin to animate.
  11. Animate each item so that the flowchart goes in sequence.
  12. Add your music - sound track only.
  13. Use automatic timing so that the chart flows automatically.
  14. Practice your timing so that you can narrate as the chart flows.
  15. Save frequently, as this is a memory intensive project.
  16. When presenting, keep the volume on the music very low so I can hear you.
