Power Point Presentation

Assignment

Introducing people or yourself is one responsibility often encountered by professionals. This assignment will require you to introduce your partner to the class. The presentation should last at least 2 minutes and no more than 2:20 minutes, and should give the class an idea of such things as your partner's background, interests, major, unique attributes and experiences, etc..... !

Have fun with the content.... there are no specific rules for what you must include. Try to be interesting and creative-- remember that you want to engage the audience and keep them interested.

There are, however, a few requirements and technical specifications that you must follow in the formation of your presentation and these are specified below. These will hopefully challenge you and your partner.

When speaking, make sure to have eye contact with the audience. Speak loudly so that we all can hear... we are interested in what you have to say. Establish eye contact, refrain from distracting mannerisms, and be enthusiastic in presenting your partner.

Requirements and technical specifications:

  1. We will be using the pecha-kucha style of presentation.
    • No words used in your presentation, with the exception of the first slide which should contain your partner's name.
    • Each slide is shown for 20 seconds and automatically advances to the next slide.
    • There should be a minimum of 6 slides and not more than 7 slides.
  2. You must include the digital photo or scanned photo of yourself on at least one of the slides.
  3. You must include an image that you have downloaded from the web.
  4. Include a diagram or smart art in your slide show that is appropriate to the content. Animate each part of the object.
  5. You must use two slides transitions and at least one slide custom animation.
  6. You must use the "notes" feature to write out what you plan to say when each slide is being shown (NOTE: do not simply read the slides to us, use your words to enhance what the slide is showing).
  7. Send your powerpoint to WORD, and then save the WORD file and submit that via Blackboard. These notes must be printed and given to the instructor prior to your presentation (be sure to staple the pages together).
  8. You must mail your presentation using Blackboard so that it is available by 5:00 AM the day the presentation is due. Assignments that are not available by 5:00 AM are considered late and will be penalized two letter grades.

Grading

You will be graded both on the content of the presentation and your manner of presentation.

What do I hand in?

  • A WORD file containing notes which you submit electronicallyl as part of your assignment.
  • A Powerpoint file, as an email attachment.

Any Advice?

Think about informing as well as entertaining us. Be creative and unique. Try to go beyond the hometown, high school, etc. type of introduction. Be sure to know your material well enough so that you do not have to read from your notes but only refer to them.
