We do everything that we can to keep our campus as safe as possible, from the smallest detail -- locking the doors of our residence halls at night, for example -- to more intensive efforts such as the Office of Public Safety's car, bike, and foot patrols on campus throughout the day. We have over 100 blue-light emergency phones on campus. And the city of Ithaca's relatively small size (about 47,000 permanent residents) means we are spared many of the problems of larger communities.
