Teacher Education

The same training that sends our graduates to leading medical schools and graduate programs produces teachers who are thoroughly prepared in the content and process of their disciplines.

Reflecting the importance of content and pedagogy, the teacher education programs in the Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College are based in each discipline. The teaching option is available to majors in biology, chemistry, or physics. In biology, students are broadly prepared in molecular and organismal biology. These areas include cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology, ecology, systematics, and evolution. In chemistry, students receive comprehensive training in inorganic, organic, physical, and analytical chemistry. In physics, students are prepared in mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, electronics, optics, modern physics, and quantum mechanics.
