Our curriculum is reviewed by the American Chemical Society and is fully certified.
We offer courses in all areas of chemistry, and a wide range of upper-level courses in specific current areas of chemistry such as solid state chemistry, NMR spectroscopy, computational chemistry and bio-organic chemistry. Our courses (especially upper level courses) are small where students receive individualized attention.
The department also supports a host of interdisciplinary programs and initiatives geared toward the academic and professional development of students. These include a biochemistry program offered in conjunction with the biology department; a 3-2 engineering program administered jointly with Clarkson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; and preparation for teaching at the secondary school level.
