As a computer science major at Ithaca College, you'll work with other students on team projects, giving you not only the technical savvy but also the organizational background required in today's exciting computer industry. Our experienced faculty take time for you, so you don't have to compete for attention -- your fellow students become your collaborators, contacts you'll likely keep throughout your whole career.

You begin the program with a series of courses emphasizing problem solving using a program language. Project courses build on these skills, giving you real problems to solve with your fellow students. You may also be invited to join your professors' research projects: for example, a recent National Science Foundation grant provided funds to create a virtual reality lab in which computer science majors are developing therapeutic software for children with motor impairments. They're also working closely with our occupational therapy department to study the effect of perceived risk on performance in the elderly.

Our graduates will tell you that they are well prepared for the challenges of their jobs. Recent graduates are in positions at Lockheed Martin, Sandia National Laboratories, and IBM, as well as at start-up companies.
