Health Care Management (B.S.)
Combining a fundamental understanding of health policy and delivery issues with a solid business foundation, our health care management degree program prepares students for management careers in health care facilities, insurance companies, public health agencies, and pharmaceutical firms. You’ll take core courses in health promotion as well as health care management, gaining early exposure to differing points of view about how health care is administered and how it might be improved. In addition, as part of your program you’ll complete either a management or general business minor in Ithaca’s School of Business. With the former, you can then opt to apply to our M.B.A. program. And if you’d like to prepare for a career in assisted-living administration, you might be interested in the program’s long-term care emphasis.
No matter which academic options you choose, you’ll complement your classroom experience with a professional practicum: six credit hours of fieldwork, internship, or supervised research. This integrated combination of coursework and practical experience gives health management students the skills and tools they need to assume leadership roles in health promotion, disease prevention, and health policy interventions.
