Musical Theatre (B.F.A.)
If you're serious about your future in musical theatre, our bachelor of fine arts degree will jump-start your career with a range of coursework and real-world opportunities to let your talent shine. An intensive, performance-oriented major, the musical theatre program is designed to offer you professional training in singing and acting techniques with a secondary emphasis in dance. Like many of our graduates, you'll be prepared to work in a range of settings, from Broadway to national and international tours to regional theatres to television and film.
Your coursework will include private voice lessons, sight-singing, scene study, voice and movement for the stage, and styles of acting, as well as work in music theory, keyboard musicianship, stagecraft, history of theatre (including American musical theatre), and dance (ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and musical theatre styles).
You'll find numerous performance opportunities both on and off campus, ranging from musicals and revues to workshops and dramas. The Ithaca College main stage, No Bucks Theatre, and senior directing projects produce approximately 14 shows per year. And to prove that "all the world's a stage," we also offer an intensive experience in our study-abroad program at the Ithaca College London Center, a great opportunity to learn, live, and experience theatre.
