In this technological age, there is a growing need for educators skilled in both mathematics and computer science. Our graduates have gone on to study for doctorates at such institutions as Johns Hopkins and Cornell, and they have entered the teaching profession in a variety of academic settings.
Our mathematics-computer science teaching program leads to initial New York State teacher certification. It combines solid coursework in mathematics, computer science, and teacher education and includes a semester of student teaching. And Ithaca College is also the national coordinating site for Curricular Options in Mathematics Programs for All Secondary Students (COMPASS), a nationwide effort to improve math studies. With such initiatives, it's no wonder we produce exceptional educators.
