You'll go beyond the examination of traditional health administration areas of study (hospitals, doctors, and health care delivery) to look at the interactions between health and public policy, health and culture, health and the environment, and more. Other areas of study may include environmental pollution, cultural differences in health policy, and gender biases in medical treatment protocols.
With this bachelor of arts degree you'll combine courses in politics, economics, sociology, anthropology, and other social sciences with upper-level courses in policy research methods and analysis. A required minor further expands your options; examples include gerontology, a foreign language, or health services administration. A health policy internship is required. Postgraduate options include graduate school or a career as an international relief worker, community activist, or hospital administrator.
