Academic Achievement Awards Celebration

Recognizing Multicultural Student Success at Ithaca College!

STUDENT AWARDS

Each year, Ithaca hosts an awards banquet to highlight the accomplishments of its ALANA population.  Students are celebrated for their prior year achievement in the following categories.

 

The following awards were given at this year's ceremony on October 1, 2011, in the Emerson Suites:

 

  • Silver Star Awards (Fall or Spring GPAs of 3.25 and above)
  • Outstanding Academic Excellence Awards (Fall and Spring GPAs of 3.25 and above)
  • Exceptional Academic Excellence Awards (Fall and Spring GPAs of 3.5 and above)
  • Superior Junior Gold Medal Awards (Junior standing and cumulative GPAs of 3.75 and above)
  • Superior Senior Gold Medal Awards (Senior standing and cumulative GPAs of 3.75 and above)

The awards ceremony featured:

  • a musical performance by the School of Music Jazz Ensemble.
  • a slide show presentation by Stephanie Sang '13, MLK Jr. Scholar.
  • a keynote speech by alumni speaker Billy Hall '84, Vice President of Programming, TNT and TBS.

FACULTY AND STAFF AWARDS

In addition, we give the YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE awards to members of the Ithaca College faculty and staff who have a documented record of going above and beyond for the critical cause of student success.  These educational leaders have an unmitigated commitment to equitable educational opportunities for all students from kindergarten to college and beyond, and we salute these individuals each year.

 

The following individuals were honored and presented with the You Make A Difference award at this year's ceremony on October 1, 2011:

 

  • Dr. Sean Eversley Bradwell, Assistant Professor, Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity.
  • Ms. Shamika Edwards, Ithaca undergraduate alumna, Class of 2011, and current graduate student in the School of Business.
  • Dr. Paula Ioanide, Assistant Professor, Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity.
  • Dr. LeBron Rankins, Psychologist, Counseling and Psychological Services.
  • Mr. Leslie Spalding, Ithaca undergraduate student, Class of 2012.
  • Dr. Roger Richardson, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Life, and Dean of the First Year Experience.
