Academic Life
During the Summer Institute your days and evenings will be spent interacting with a committed group of faculty and staff. You will engage in a variety of classes and activities in an effort to give you a snapshot of a day-in-the-life of a first-year student at Ithaca College. Whether you are attending a class, working with one of your instructors, meeting with a study group, studying independently, or learning about the many resources, programs and services available at IC, you will be challenged and supported in a variety of ways.
You will be introduced to the academic culture via several classes including math and writing, learn new strategies for studying and learning in college, and begin to explore the relationships between your interests, the many academic programs at Ithaca, and the possibilities for "life after college." You will attend lectures, take notes, read college-level texts, write papers, engage in group work and in class discussions, and participate in study hours during the evening. The academic experience of the Summer Institute is designed to build on your high school academic experiences, your individual strengths as a learner and, most importantly, assist you in developing a solid foundation for academic achievement and success at Ithaca College.
