The AHGITT Program The Allied Health Geriatric Interdisciplinary Team Training Project, funded by a grant from the Bureau of Health Professions, Department of Health and Human Services, operated at the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute from September 1999 to June 2003. The project was designed to offer allied health students and professionals the opportunity to learn about interdisciplinary treatment for geriatric clients. The project produced learning materials that are suitable for classroom and in-service use. A case study, PowerPoint modules, and a bibliography are available to download from this site. The AHGITT project: Provided opportunities for students in the health related professions at Ithaca College for shared learning experiences and, through this process, an opportunity to gain an understanding and appreciation for the expertise each health discipline brings to solving health problems. Provided a knowledge base on geriatric rural health care delivery to enabling students to be better prepared for professional opportunities in health care agencies and hospitals in rural areas of New York State. Provided training opportunities to allied health professionals in rural areas of New York State on interdisciplinary team approaches to health care through workshops, in-service presentations, and training opportunities with student placements. Expanded the number of rural health care sites available for training allied health students from Ithaca College. |
