Welcome to he Rural Interdisciplinary Geriatrics Training Module. The Module has been developed in conjunction with faculty and staff from the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute and the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center at the University of Rochester. Goal/AudienceThe goal of this module is to introduce participants to the concept and practice of interdisciplinary geriatric assessment in rural areas. The intended audience is students, faculty, and professionals from a range of disciplines and practice environments who want to learn more about interdisciplinary geriatric assessment in rural areas. Thus, for some the content will be new and for others it may act as a review. The developers of this module have attempted to provide as much background information as possible throughout the module by utilizing links to other informative sites as well as the development of a glossary. ObjectivesThe following are learning objectives for users of the module:
Navigational TipsClick on the navigational bar with sub-menus on the left to access content areas. Where appropriate, hyperlinks within the text open an additional browser window with faded "back buttons" (see figure below). This allows you to maintain your place in the case studies. After reviewing the additional information provided in the new window, close the window by clicking on the "x" in the upper right hand corner.
Self-AssessmentsFor the adventurous, the following self-assessment quizzes are not only fun but test how much you already know about aging, rural areas, and interdisciplinary health care practice. Take them before you start the case studies and you might just surprise yourself! What's Your Aging I.Q.?
