Professional Achievement Award

As a management student in IC's School of Business, Dave Lissy learned the ropes of business, and that's served him well during his lengthy career. Currently, Dave is chief executive officer of Bright Horizons Family Solutions, the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, early education, and work/life solutions. Bright Horizons manages more than 700 early care and education centers and schools and employs 18,000 people worldwide. Fortune magazine has named it one the "100 best companies to work for in America" 11 times, and President Bill Clinton recognized it with the Ron Brown Award for Corporate Leadership.

Prior to being named CEO in 2001, Dave served as executive vice president and chief development officer of Bright Horizons for four years. In that capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the company's growth strategy, including new business development, strategic planning, client services, public affairs, real estate, marketing, and consulting. Dave has been responsible for the development and enhancement of the company's service offerings as well as for its international expansion.

Before joining Bright Horizons, Dave spent 11 years in the health care industry, serving as senior vice president and general manager of the New England region for Aetna, in addition to a variety of management and marketing functions with U.S. Healthcare. He was elected to the board of directors of Bright Horizons in 2001 and also serves on the boards of Social Service Coordinators, a proprietary senior care organization; the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children; and Jumpstart, a national early education organization serving preschool children in low-income communities. He is also a trustee for Corporate Voices for Working Families.

Dave and his wife, Suzanne '88, have three children: twins Sarah and Julia, and son Dylan.
