Founded in 1836, Tompkins Trust Company is a full-service, locally managed community bank with 15 offices serving central New York.
Tompkins Trust Company is dedicated to enhancing the vitality of surrounding communities by supporting local economic, arts, education, and health-related organizations. For more than 70 years, Tompkins Trust Company and Ithaca College have had an active partnership.
The partnership began when the bank canceled much of the College's debt as IC struggled to weather the Great Depression. The trust company has since provided grants for many buildings on IC's campus, including Friends Hall, Smiddy Hall, Gannett Center, the Whalen Center for Music, and the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise. Among the bank's more recent contributions are significant support of the Athletics and Events Center and sponsoring the Ithaca College Theatre season.
In addition, Tompkins Trust Company provides corporate support for the Friends of Ithaca College, an organization many of the bank’s employees are involved with. The trust company helps fund numerous scholarship endowments, including the Judge James J. Clynes Jr. Study Grants and the Joseph M. Hartnett Scholarship Fund for local students who need financial assistance. These programs all serve to strengthen campus-community outreach and partnerships.
