Michael Kaplan received a bachelor's degree in communications management with a minor in marketing and holds a master's degree in integrated marketing from New York University.
In July 1999, Michael joined G2 USA, a top-five brand activation agency that helps marketers Maximize Brand CommitmentSM, and is currently group account director. With over 25 years of relationship marketing experience, he manages Liberty Mutual's customer affinity auto and home acquisition program. He has also managed relationship marketing programs for Capital One, Aetna Medicare, 3M, Harris Direct, and Procter & Gamble.
Prior to joining G2 USA, Michael was partner, account services, at Bozell, where he developed marketing strategies for the New York Times, Exelon Energy, and MCI. At Weight Watchers International, he was the marketing manager for the launch of the Weight Watchers at Home program.
He spent five years at Young & Rubicam's Wunderman, supervising acquisition programs for Sports Illustrated, Time, Showtime, AT&T, and the U.S. Postal Service. Michael began his career at Lawrence Butner Advertising as a media planner/buyer for spot and cable television for the Wall Street Journal, Charles Schwab, and Money.
Michael has taught at New York University and is currently teaching a course for Ithaca College in New York City on the art and science of direct marketing.
Michael's dedication to Ithaca College is legendary. He has served on the alumni association board of directors for 22 years and as its president from 2005 to 2010. He was a member of the College's board of trustees from 2001 to 2004 and was elected to serve as an alumni trustee in 2011. He is an alumni volunteer on the metro New York alumni committee, an admissions volunteer, a member of the Park School of Communications National Advisory Board, and national chair of the Ithaca College Annual Fund.
In addition to his many volunteer activities, Michael established the Michael J. Kaplan '85 Scholarship, which is awarded to an outstanding student majoring in integrated marketing communications.
Michael lives in Huntington Station, New York.
