Lifetime Achievement Award

Lance Cunha, an expert in international business, has worked in over 50 countries during his 40-year career. He has counseled numerous companies, governments, central banks, and global financial institutions on financial and business strategies. He has also served on the boards of directors of UNICEF and the World Affairs Council.

From 1996 through 2004, Lance was a global financial services industry partner with two of the Big Five accounting firms -- Arthur Andersen and Deloitte. From 1970 through 1996, he worked in senior roles, in the United States and abroad, with a number of global financial institutions, including the Irving Trust Company, Manufacturers Hanover, Sakura Bank, and Dresdner Bank. During this period, he also served on Dresdner Bank's North American management board.

Lance has also worked on various federal and state committees, authored U.S. banking legislation, and participated in two U.S. presidential trade missions, to Brazil and China. He has taken part in many conferences on international finance in both the public and private sectors.

A noted speaker, Lance has lectured on global risk and other international finance topics at the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, New York University, and the London School of Economics. He has twice delivered the Distinguished Executive Lecture at Ithaca College's School of Business. Currently, he serves as an occasional adjunct instructor at the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame and the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

A cum laude graduate of the School of Humanities and Sciences, Lance also holds a master of arts degree with honors, in government and international studies, from the University of Notre Dame. He has attended advanced and executive educational programs in international economics at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government and at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.

Lance and his wife, Mary Mackenbach Cunha '69, reside in Johns Creek, Georgia, near Atlanta. They have two happily married daughters and four grandchildren.
