1.4 Administration of Ithaca College
1.4.1 The President of Ithaca College
The president is the chief executive officer of the College and is appointed
by the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees grants the president the
general powers and duties of supervision and management of the business
affairs of the College and the general direction of all of the academic
programs of the College. The president's duties include without limitation
the areas of: fundraising and development; public and alumni relations;
institutional, faculty and educational leadership; long-range and strategic
planning; student and faculty recruitment; and appointment, supervision,
promotion, and dismissal of executive officers of the College.
1.4.2 Provost and Vice President for Academic
Affairs
Exercise executive and administrative direction over the College's academic
programs. Serve as the College's chief academic officer and provide academic
direction, encourage creativity, and provide leadership to deans, directors
and faculty. Oversee, develop and evaluate the financial planning and
management of all academic affairs. Serve as a member of the president's
council, which in concert with other senior officers of the College develops
institutional objectives, budget priorities, policies and procedures,
and overall planning for the day-to-day administration of the College.
1.4.3 Vice President for Finance and Administration
Exercise executive and administrative direction over the College's fiscal
and human resources, information technology programs, physical facilities,
general administrative services, and the College's retail book and convenience
stores. Serve as the Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer and provide
administrative guidance and leadership in the development, implementation,
and administration of policies and procedures involving the investment
and disbursement of the College's fiscal resources. Serve as a member
of the president's council, which in concert with other senior officers
of the College develops institutional objectives, budget priorities, policies
and procedures, and overall planning for the day-to-day administration
of the College. Serve as liaison to appropriate committees of the Board
of Trustees.
1.4.4 Vice President for Institutional Advancement
Exercise executive and administrative direction over the College's advancement
programs that include development, college relations, public information,
alumni relations, and research. Provide administrative guidance and leadership
in the planning and development of strategies and programs designed to
achieve public recognition, increased support and professional recognition
for the College in accordance with the stated academic mission. Serve
as a member of the President's Council, which in concert with other senior
officers of the College develops institutional objectives, budget priorities,
policies and procedures, and overall planning for the day-to-day administration
of the College.
1.4.5 Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus
Life
Exercise executive and administrative direction over the Division of
Student Affairs and Campus Life in order to enhance the overall educational
experience of the Ithaca College student body through extracurricular
and cocurricular learning. Provide administrative guidance in the planning,
development, implementation and administration of programs, polices, services
and activities affecting the health, safety, development and campus life
experience for approximately 5700 students, and to ensure a safe and healthy
work environment for the campus community. Serve as a member of the president's
council, which in concert with other senior officers of the College develops
institutional objectives, budget priorities, policies and procedure, and
overall planning for the day-to-day administration of the College.
1.4.6 Vice President and General Counsel
Exercise executive and administrative direction over the College's legal
affairs. Serve as the College's primary legal officer and provide advice
to the board of trustees, president, administration, faculty, and staff
on all legal matters affecting the institution. Serve as a member of the
president's council, which in concert with other senior officers of the
College develops institutional objectives, budget priorities, policies
and procedures, and overall planning for the day-to-day administration
of the College. |
