There is a problem when you try to run first_thread in a browser. Apparently the thread gives the "start()" mehtod priority; it is not interrupted until it finishes! Thus the "repaint()" method is not run until after the loop is completed. Further, the timeKeeper thread is not run until after the loop is completed.
I have put a new version of "first_thread" (called "first_threadV.java") in the Nova/CS190JB account. This version creates two threads and uses an "if" statement in the "run()" method to discriminate between the two threads. This will run the two threads concurrently. Note that there is still a minor problem; the counting thread runs past 100. I'm not sure why yet. But both threads are running.
