Spring 2003

• An example Flash movie from the multimedia class.
• Note that you must have both assignment 6 and 7 (but not the post assignment) signed by a TA or the instructor before you turn it in.
• An outline for Assignment 7 is available in the multimedia/Public/Lectures/Week 7 folder.
• Addition to Assignment 7! For both the assignment and the post assignment you must create shockwave versions of your movie. For the post assignment, turn in a folder that contains your movie, the shockwave version of your movie (the .dcr file) and a web page that plays the shockwave movie (the .html file).
• A shockwave file that demonstrates assignment 6 is available below.
• Change! Project 1 is now due Friday, 25 April, 2003.
• Example movies are now available on the class server (but not on Nova). You can log into the multimedia account just like you were loggin in to turn in an assignment. Choose the Lectures folder. The folder should appear on your desktop. Note that there are folders inside the Lectures folder for weeks 1 through 7. Each of these folders has a number of movies that you can copy.
• Note that chapter 16 of the Director Demystified book covers Lists.
• Reminder: Exam 1 will take place at 6 - 8PM on March 4 in Williams 225.
• Due to popular demand, the Director's workbook will be due on Friday, 28 February not Wednesday, 26 February.

Course Materials.

• Instructions on how to turn in assignments from a Macintosh computer.

  • Choose the "go" menu, then "Connect to Server".
  • Click on "Academic Computing", then choose "Corinth" and click on the "connect" button.
  • You will get a dialog box. Click on the "guest" radio button, then choose "multimedia".
  • There will be a folder labeled "PS1". Create a new folder and change it's name to your last name(s). Then drag this new folder from your desktop to the "PS1" folder on the Corinth server.
• Instructions on how to get the data files from the book "Director 8 Comprehensive". Right now you can only get to all the files from a Macintosh computer on campus. The images for Unit B and Unit C are available here:
  Unit B: MDB-1.dir, Blue Earth.jpg, Mwm Logo.tif, Space Background.gif.
  Unit C: MCD-1.
  

  To download all files from a Macintosh computer do the following steps:

  • Choose the "go" menu, then "Connect to Server".
  • Click on "Academic Computing", then choose "Corinth" and click on the "connect" button.
  • You will get a dialog box. Click on the "guest" radio button, then choose "multimedia".
  • There will be a folder labeled "Director 8 Comprehensive Files". The data files are in this folder. You can drag the folder down to your desktop.
  • There are also sound files (either 16 bit or 8 bit). You can drag sounds or folders of sounds down to your desktop also.

• Assignment 6 shockwave file so you can see what your solutions should look like. Note that the first scene is the Assignment, the second scene is the Post-Assignment. For the first scene (lunar lander) you should start by pressing the down arrow so that the lander appears on the page.
