For this part of the project, you are to choose a project and then meet with your client and produce a purpose statement, a goals chart, and a planning chart. Your planning chart must include the goals and objectives for the web site, the structure that will reflect those goals, and the functions that correspond to those goals and objectives.
You must meet with your client at least once. You are responsible for arranging this meeting.
Documents. For this part of the project you must produce a purpose statement and a planning chart.
Your goals chart must include the 6 areas discussed in class (given below). Each area may have multiple goals.
Note that you must have interactivity goals. For example, you could provide an on-line mechanism to automatically update web pages. Users would fill out a form and your cgi program would automatically update a web page.
This document describes the nature of the web site that you can expect from the students in COMP 205 (advanced web programming). The web site will be developed over the course of the fall 2008 semester and will be delivered "as is" at the end of the semester, ie, with no guarantee of functionality. Your project will primarily be an educational experience for the students involved. Students will be graded on how completely they meet your specifications.
You must be available for consultation at least bi-weekly on the Ithaca College campus throughout the fall semester of 2008 (October 1 through December 12). You and the students working on your project must set up a mutually convenient bi-weekly meeting time.
All projects will be delivered by 12 December 2003. There will be no development, training, or consultation with the developers after that date. All web pages will be delivered "as is", ie, there is no guarantee of functionality. Students will deliver the web site on a CD ROM which you can use to upload the web pages to your web server. If you have an account on www.ithaca.edu at the beginning of the term you may ask students to upload pages to your account, though this will not be part of their grade.
You, as a client, must gain access to a web server and post the project onto your web server. This project will not supply access to a web server and will not set up a web server or web account for you. For example, people working at Ithaca College should already have an account on www.ithaca.edu. Ithaca College organizations should contact Information Technology Services (ITS, http://www.ithaca.edu/computing/fs_index.htm ) to set up an account on www.ithaca.edu.
