Capital Request Form

Form used by each department to request the capital items for 2010-2011.  The Capital Request Forms should be submitted to the Budget Office after having been reviewed and approved by the Vice President for each division.  Please submit this form to budgets@ithaca.edu

Please review the below definition of a capital item and the qualifications.

The capital threshold limits have not increased/changed. The limits are the same as the 2009-2010 budget process. Some terminology has been updated.

Computer Capital - $5,000 Threshold:

  1. Computer capital is funding for computer items that are above $5,000 that are not covered under the College's renewal program. If you have a question about computer coverage for your area, please call ITS @ 4-1000, or access the information at ITS Technology Renewal site.

Regular Capital - $2,000 Threshold:

  1. Any single piece of non-computer equipment purchased costing more than the $2,000 threshold amount.
  2. A combination of non-computer items (components) totaling more than $2,000, which are necessary to make a single piece of equipment that has a specific purpose.

PLEASE NOTE:  Please keep in mind that the capital equipment budget is separate and distinct from the operating budget, and reallocation from one to the other is not an option in planning for next year or in administering your current budgets. A number of low priced items, when grouped together to exceed the $2,000 capital threshold do not constitute a capital item expenditure.

Small Equipment - Single items that fall under $2,000 Threshold:

  1. Requests for equipment costing less than $2000 or computer equipment costing less than $5,000. Departments submit requests for these funds at the divisional level since Deans and Vice Presidents are allotted funds for such purposes.
