• What is the difference between ID Express and Bonus Bucks?
ID Express and Bonus Bucks are both represented by a stripe on the back of a student’s ID card. ID Express (ID-X) is a debit card system. Students and parents deposit money into the account and students can use it at many different locations on campus and at several off campus locations (they cannot withdraw money from the account however). Some of the places that accept ID-X are the Bookstore, the dining halls, the Health Center, vending machines, the convenience stores on campus, etc. Bonus Bucks are extra dollars associated with a student’s meal plan, and can only be used for food items. Because it is part of the student’s meal plan, food purchased with Bonus Bucks is non-taxable. Parents can make deposits to both accounts, but Bonus Bucks are handled by Dining Services.
• Can a student withdraw money from ID Express?
No, it is not a bank account.
• Where can I use ID Express and Bonus Bucks? How do I use money from ID Express for vending?
Bonus Bucks are part of your meal plan and can be used anywhere on campus where food is sold. ID Express can be used anywhere food is sold as well as other locations such as the Bookstore, Health Center, Ticket Office, etc. and at several off campus locations. It is not restricted to food. When purchasing food, it is wiser to use Bonus Bucks. As part of the meal plan, Bonus Bucks are non-taxable. The vending machines are set up to recognize whether or not a student has ID Express. If he has ID Express, it can deduct up to $20 for vending per day. It is no longer necessary to transfer money from ID Express to vending.
