•        How are OTs billed?

As undergraduates, OTs are billed the same as regular undergraduates with the exception of the summer they begin their junior year. That summer they must attend a summer program with the junior PTs at the University of Rochester. For this course they are billed 8x the current regular rate/credit hour, a health services fee, and, if applicable, housing.

During their 5th (graduate) year, OTs are billed quarterly. For the 1st quarter they are billed 6x the summer school rate, health insurance (can be waived), and malpractice insurance (mandatory).  The cost of the next 3 blocks is determined by taking the annual tuition cost for undergraduates and dividing it by 3. During blocks 2, 3, and 4 the OT charges are 1/3 the tuition cost per block. The OT 5th year program is in Ithaca.

The summer of their junior year, they must attend a summer program with the junior OTs at the University of Rochester. For this course they are billed 8x the current regular rate/credit hour, a health services fee, and, if applicable, housing.

During the summer of their senior year they are billed 3x the summer rate/credit for their summer program.

During blocks 1, 2, and 3 the PT charges are 1/3 the tuition cost per block. Block 1 has the additional charges of health insurance (can be waived), malpractice insurance (mandatory), and a health services fee.  The cost of the 4th block is 6x the cost/credit of the following year’s summer rate. The PT 5th year program is in Rochester.

•        Why is the junior OT/PT cost/credit higher than regular summer school charges?

The cost is higher due to the cost of the program. During their summer experience students will be working with cadavers in their studies, and the cost for obtaining them is high. The junior program uses the yearly rate/credit instead of the summer rate/credit for this reason.

•        What is the TDPT and how is it charged?

TDPT stands for Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy, which is a 6th year program for PTs ending with a clinical doctorate.  The program started in 2005 and is expected run until 2010 as a transitional program. After that year, it will be known as DPT.  Students in this program are in classes for 10 weeks in the fall only, and are charged for 12 credits at the normal graduate student rate/credit.  Students are billed in June and payment is due August 10th, except for the Fall 2006 which has a due date of August 28th.
