• What is the % of refund structure in the refund schedule?
There are 2 different refund schedules—one is for students leaving the College and the other is for room/board changes for students staying here. In accordance with federal guidelines, the % schedule for those leaving is as follows (charges include tuition, room, and board):
Week 1 100%
Week 2 85%
Week 3 70%
Week 4 60%
Week 5 50%
Week 6 40%
Week 7 30%
Week 8 15%
Week 9 + 0%
Students who are pro-rating room and board but who are still here, have a different %, starting with 100% for Week 1 and going down 6% a week for 16 weeks (Week 16 is always $0). This means Week 2 is figured by multiplying the full cost x .94, Week 3 by .88, etc.).
In all cases, both for full refunds and pro-rated refunds, the refund is whatever the multiplied figure is with the cents dropped…it is neither rounded up nor rounded down.
• What is the difference between the refund schedules for LOAs/WDs and the one for students moving off campus or dropping meals?
The LOA/WD schedule goes down a larger % per week, and is only carried through the first 8 weeks of a semester. The other schedule goes down the same % every week until the end of the semester. Please see prior question for full description of each.
