Withdrawals and Leaves of Absence

•        How do I withdraw?

You should go to the Office of Student Affairs and complete the necessary paperwork. The withdrawal form needs several signatures; refunds (if any) will be done after the form is complete and after Larry Chambers from the Financial Aid office determines aid to be refunded.

•        What is a medical Leave of Absence (LOA)?  Is your tuition escrowed?

Students who must leave for medical reasons can take a medical leave of absence to ensure that they have their spot reserved for their return. To do this, they must fill out the appropriate paperwork with the Office of Student Affairs. They do not have to leave a $400 advance deposit. Tuition is not escrowed normally, though occasionally Student Affairs makes an exception to this. Unlike regular LOAs, a medical LOA stipulates that you must have clearance from your doctor before you return, and this information is forwarded to the Health Center.

•        What is a LOA? What is a LOA Continuation Fee and how much is it?

A leave of absence is granted if a student needs a break, or is studying abroad at a non-affiliated program, for one semester. A student taking a LOA must fill out the appropriate paperwork at the Office of Student Affairs and leave a $400 advance deposit for the semester of return. If the student wishes to extend a LOA, he must pay a continuation fee of $200/semester for the time he wishes to keep his records open.
