Learn more about working with a student
An internship is a learning experience that allows the student to apply his/her academic knowledge to the real-world business operations of an organization. Internships are not a requirement for graduation, but they are highly recommended as a valuable part of the college experience.
Two types of internships are offered in the business school:
Both types of internships allow students to work within a business organization and receive credit for their experience.

A student may receive up to six internship and/or experiential learning credits (in any combination). Our side-by-side comparison can help you decide which type of internship is best for you. International students who are interested in pursuing internship or experiential learning opportunities must obtain immigration authorization in advance.
Whichever type you choose, all internships are governed by specific guidelines that help ensure a positive experience for both the intern and the sponsoring company. The student defines his/her own set of objectives for the internship and arranges for a faculty sponsor as well as a field supervisor. The faculty sponsor monitors and evaluates the internship, while the field supervisor is the intern's direct supervisor within the sponsoring company.
Student interns represent the School of Business and Ithaca College as well as themselves -- a serious responsibility. Therefore, students are asked to carefully weigh their academic load and other obligations before committing themselves to an internship.
