Welcome from the Director
On behalf of all the Finance & International Business faculty, welcome to the Investment Track at the Ithaca College School of Business! On this page you will find information pertaining to the unique set of courses and experiences leading our students towards a successful career in investments and capital markets.
What makes the Ithaca College Investment Track unique? How about having a dedicated faculty ready for your questions combined with an individual learning environment? Or perhaps it is the breadth of knowledge across the capital markets that we offer our students? Want to connect with an Ithaca Business Alum on Wall Street or Main Street? No problem.
And your experience in the Investment Track does not stop there—how about managing money years before many professionals get the chance to do so in their own career?
Are you interested in investments but not sure if you are into stocks, bonds, oil or the Euro? At Ithaca College, students in the Investment Track learn about the capital markets and investing in a thorough manner. This begins with a Security Analysis course covering the core of the field and moves to more advanced classes, such as Hedge Fund I and II. We cover a wide array of investment products including equities, fixed income, commodities and currencies in our courses and training.
The centerpiece of the Investment Track are student-managed portfolios. Students become part of sector teams, pitch ideas, and decide which positons to enter or exit within several portfolios worth over $750,000 cumulatively.
At Ithaca College, we want our students to understand the theoretical and the practical so that they are well-prepared for today’s changing job market. To do so they need training in both knowledge and the experience---and you will get both in your four years at Ithaca College.
As you can probably see, we have a passion for Investments that goes beyond other institutions. If you are serious about investing and capital markets, or if you are not sure but want to explore this exciting world, please feel free to contact me or any other Finance & International Business faculty member. Our doors are always open.
