What is the laptop requirement for the School of Business?
All first-year students entering the School of Business are required to purchase a Dell Latitude laptop. There are two models to choose from in this program.

How do first-year School of Business students purchase the required laptop?
All first-year students entering the School of Business can access the special Dell Online Store for the School of Business at http://www.dell.com/ICBS.
Why has the School of Business adopted the Dell Latitude as its standard?
Latitudes are business class laptops representative of technology most often employed in the business community. Dell Latitudes are widely used across campus and in-house service technicians are available for repair and to answer support questions.
What type of warranty is included with this program?
Laptops purchased under this program include a four-year warranty with Dell CompleteCare. For more information about this product go to Dell's CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service.
What happens if the laptop breaks?
An on-campus support center is available to help answer questions and diagnose and repair problems.
What software programs are students required to purchase?
Microsoft Office is the only suite of software required for business school students. The Microsoft Office suite will be bundled with the laptop purchase. Other software may be required in the future based on curricular needs.
What should a family do if participation in this program causes a financial burden?
If participation in this program causes a financial burden, please contact the dean of the School of Business.
What security issues are associated with laptop ownership?
Because laptops are light and portable, security should always be a concern. It is the responsibility of each student to protect his/her laptop. With this in mind, please consider insuring the laptop, purchasing equipment for its physical security, and installing anti-theft software.
Look to see whether your homeowner’s insurance covers laptop theft. If not, consider purchasing additional coverage.
Laptop security kits are available from the Ithaca College Bookstore and from many retail establishments. These security kits allow a student to physically secure the laptop to a desk.
Several different software products are available to help find a laptop in case of theft. One of the more popular products is Lo-Jack. If a laptop is stolen or lost, notify the Office of Public Safety.
