The 16th Annual Student Recognition Awards Ceremony commended over 150 juniors and seniors. Twenty-five students were recognized for their service and leadership by their organization based on their outstanding performance within that organization for the 2011-2012 academic year. In addition to these, students with a 3.3 GPA or higher were recognized for academic excellence and six students received an award from the Dean’s office. Michael Alexrod ’91, was the guest speaker.
Genna Petre ’12, said, “I was honored to receive an award from the Legal Studies Department. I am so grateful for the kind nomination for this award from all of the professors who teach within the department. I greatly appreciate all of the hard work they do for the students within the major and minor, and I am pleased to receive an award that they hold in such high esteem.”
Beta Alpha Psi held its annual Spring Banquet and Initiation Ceremony. The banquet is a great opportunity for students to network with professionals as well as be recognized for their outstanding scholastic and extra-curricular achievements. Over 90 students, parents, alumni, faculty and deans were in attendance. The ceremony included two honorary inductees, Professor John McKinley (Accounting) and Erwin Schilling (Internal Auditor at Goldman Sachs). Mr. Charles Wheeler ’56, was guest speaker. Beta Alpa Psi is an honorary organization for Financial Information students and professionals.
Beta Gamma Sigma, an International honorary society for the top students at AACSB accredited institutions, was the culmination of Honors weekend. Graduating seniors and MBAs were recognized for their achievements and were presented with blue and gold Beta Gamma Sigma honor stoles to wear at Commencement. 25 new members were inducted, including 17 juniors, 2 seniors and 6 MBA candidates. Average GPA for undergraduate initiates is 3.84 and for MBA initiates, 3.94.
