WEST POINT - FALL 2008
CAPSTONE SYMPOSIUM AT WEST POINT
The seven seniors in Associate Professor Marlene Barken’s Legal Studies capstone class are all Legal Studies majors. They have all taken a 2 semester sequence in business law, classes on political justice and constitutional law, legal research, alternative dispute resolution, law and the media, ethics, required writing and communication courses, as well as two or more applied courses on specific areas of law and several electives that explore the social, political, ethical and cultural dimensions of how law functions. The capstone class is a weekly seminar designed to build upon and to integrate these multiple perspectives.
While at West Point, students heard presentations and participated in discussions with West Point cadets on torture and detainee cases.
