Who Thought This One Up?
By Dan Greenman

To go along with what I wrote on December 10, there is another anti-drug commercial on television that makes very little sense. In this one, there are two teenagers in a car filled with smoke. The driver steps on the gas and hits a little girl riding her bike. Again, the ad blames drugs - specifically marijuana - for deaths. Again I ask the viewer to think critically and wonder whether marijuana-related traffic accidents are really that much of a concern in our society. I am positive that people driving while drunk have caused a lot more deaths than people driving while high - on any drug. However, we see a lot of beer and liquor commercials, but very few anti-drinking commercials. What kinds of mixed messages are the television media sending?
