Who Thought This One Up?
By Dan Greenman

Tuesday, March 25, 2003

I know that recent mainstream media coverage implies that the majority of the country (and even the world; I believe the "coalition" is up to 46 countries now) supports the war. But believe it or not, millions of people around the world have been protesting war every week. However, even Bush has come out and said that he doesn't care how many people protest; it isn't going to change his actions or opinions.

If the protestors aren't loud enough to be heard by the government and the media, then maybe music will be. Below are links to some of the anti-war songs and videos that popular musicians have released in the past few months.

Beastie Boys: "In A World Gone Mad"

The Beastie Boys are probably the most popular band to have recorded a song in opposition of a war in Iraq.

System of a Down: "BOOM!"
Watch the Video
Directed by Michael Moore, this video incorporates footage from the Feb. 15 protests. You will probably never see this on MTV.

John Mellencamp: "To Washington"

The commercial radio stations have loved him for years, but don't expect them to love this song.

Mike Park: "No War"
Right-Click to Download MP3 or Click Here Mike Park, punk rock activist and head of Asian Man Records, just recorded this acoustic song.
