Before accepting a position as the executive director of the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, Inc. in Orlando, Floria, in January 2008, Craig Evans ’84 was the associate vice president for institutional advancement at IC. Everyone who worked with him knew how dedicated he was to the College, but even so the development staff was surprised when he donated $10,000 of his own money to the new Faculty/Staff Endowed Scholarship.
When asked what triggered his generosity, Craig said, “I know firsthand the value of an Ithaca College education. Not a day has gone by in my professional career – as a teacher, a school administrator, and an Ithaca College employee – that I have not reflected on what good training and experience I had here as a student. In fact, it was my student experience more than 20 years ago, and my experience as an alumnus ever since, that helped me decide to come back to join the staff.
“When I heard that the Faculty/Staff Campaign Committee had decided to create a scholarship for its campaign goal, I knew this was the perfect vehicle for me to publicly demonstrate my commitment to the institution that has done so much for me as a student, alumnus, and employee. As a student, I received financial aid in the form of scholarships, and I am glad to be able to help future students obtain the training and experience that I did.”
Alumni and Friends of the College can visit the Campaign website to learn more about the largest fund-raising effort in IC history. Employees of the College can join Craig Evans in supporting the Faculty/Staff Endowed Scholarship by filling out a Faculty and Staff Pledge Form and sending via intracampus mail to the Office of the Ithaca Fund.
