Class 2007 Gift Presentation

On May 20th at Ithaca College’s 112th Commencement ceremony, the class of 2007 were recognized for their academic achievements and in gratitude presented Ithaca with a generous senior class gift of $57,648. The contribution set a new record for senior class giving, and maintained an Ithaca tradition in which each class aims to provide a gift greaterthan the class before.

In his Commencement remarks, senior class president Alexander Moore urged the class of 2007 to commit themselves to a shared hope and a higher purpose. As the generous gift demonstrates, the newly-minted graduates are well on their way to accepting their leader’s challenge.

Representing his fellow classmates, Alexander presented the senior class gift to Ithaca College president Peggy Williams and Steve White ’66, trustee and past president of the Ithaca College Alumni Association. The gift included $25,873 raised by the seniors, which was enough to fulfill a challenge grant and earn a matching amount from the Atlantic Philanthropies. The result was a gift of $51,746 that was contributed to the campaign for the new athletics and events center. In honor of their efforts, the name of the class of 2007 will be placed on the garden entrance of the new A&E facility, that is currently being designed. The class also raised an additional $5,902 to be used for an assortment of allocations.
