AdmissionSummer Admission Categories
Incoming student --- A person who is formally accepted as a degree student at Ithaca College but has not enrolled in courses before summer 2001. This includes incoming freshmen, new graduate students, and transfer students. Visiting student --- A degree student at another college or university who wishes to enroll in summer courses at Ithaca College for transfer of credit to his or her home institution. Extramural student --- Any person who enrolls on a course-by-course basis. Extramural students must have graduated from high school or hold a GED to register for undergraduate courses. Students who register for graduate-level courses must have earned a bachelor’s or higher degree and must obtain the approval of the department’s graduate program chair. Enrollment in summer session courses at Ithaca College as a visiting student or extramural student does not imply acceptance into a degree program at Ithaca College. International students --- International students are welcome to register for summer session courses at Ithaca College. An international student must, however, have his or her visa eligibility and financial status approved by the Office of International Programs. Students whose native language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and score satisfactorily to demonstrate a command of English. Adult students --- Advising and referral are available for anyone over 25 who wishes to begin or resume college study. Contact the summer sessions office. High school students --- Qualified local high school students may register in selected undergraduate courses with special permission. Contact the summer sessions office. There are three periods of registration, each with a different registration fee and procedure. For specific dates, see the summer sessions calendar.
Registering by Mail or FaxRegistration by mail or fax begins April 2 for all summer session courses and workshops. The completed and signed registration form, with payment for the total amount due or the MasterCard/Visa/Discover authorization (required for faxed registration), should be received by the summer sessions office at least two weeks before the start of classes. Students who register by mail or fax by the deadline will receive a confirmation notice. Mail your registration to Summer Sessions Office, Ithaca College, 120 Towers Concourse, Ithaca, NY 14850-7141, or fax it to 607-274-1263. Registering in PersonIthaca College degree students who are enrolling in on-campus classroom or online courses should register in person at the bursar’s office any business day from April 2 through the first day of each session. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Incoming freshmen, Ithaca College students, and transfer, visiting, or extramural students who are enrolling in independent studies or internships should register at the summer sessions office. Extramural students who wish to register in graduate-level courses must obtain the approval of the department’s graduate program chair before they register. Enrollment in performance study and composition must be approved by the School of Music before registration.
