Welcome to Summer Sessions at Ithaca College

Jim MalekWe invite you to sample one of the most stimulating college environments in America by enrolling in our summer sessions offerings. At Ithaca College we have recently adopted a new vision statement that summarizes some of our strengths and defines our aspirations for the future: "Ithaca College strives to become the standard of excellence for residential comprehensive colleges, fostering intellect, creativity, and character in an active, student-centered learning community."

As a comprehensive college, Ithaca has always recognized the value of combining theory and performance. We provide a rigorous education in both liberal arts and professional studies. We pride ourselves on close student-faculty relationships, evident in the personal attention students receive from faculty and in the many collaborative student-faculty research projects. Learning at Ithaca extends well beyond the classroom to encompass a broad range of residential, professional, and extracurricular opportunities.

The summer sessions at Ithaca College offer a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate courses, ranging from the liberal arts and natural sciences to business, communications, health sciences, and music. With two five-week sessions, a special music session, workshops, internships, and independent studies, you can easily plan a summer schedule that meets your particular needs and interests.

Courses are open to current Ithaca College graduate and undergraduate students, incoming freshmen, and transfer students. Visiting students from other colleges are also welcome. Local residents who wish to return to college, enhance job skills, expand career choices, or explore new areas of interest are encouraged to consider summer courses. Qualified high school students will find a number of course offerings that can be taken for credit for a head start in their college career. Registration is accepted by mail, by fax, or in person.

Students enrolled for the summer sessions can enjoy free campus concerts and use the College’s outstanding, state-of-the-art facilities, including the Fitness Center, Campus Center, outdoor swimming pool and track, tennis courts, recreation center, bookstore, library, computer labs, and snack bar. On-campus housing and meal plans are available as well.

Dedicated teachers, strong program offerings, excellent facilities, a beautiful setting overlooking Cayuga Lake --- these are some of the ingredients that create the rich student-centered learning environment at Ithaca College.
