is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., during the
summer. Besides textbooks and general interest books, the bookstore
offers a large selection of clothing, greeting cards, photography
supplies and services, telephones, tape recorders, radios, lamps,
and other items for student apartments and rooms. A coin-operated
photocopier is also located in the bookstore.
Career Services
The career
services office is open Monday through
Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Career counselors are available,
by appointment, to
meet with students about choosing a major, conducting a job search,
or career development. Recruitment is active in the summer, offering
a variety of employment opportunities and résumé referrals.
College Liability
Ithaca College will neither insure nor assume responsibility for
the personal property of a summer sessions participant. It is the
responsibility of each participant to provide insurance protection
against the loss of personal property brought on campus.
Computing Facilities
Academic
Computing and Client Services (ACCS), located in 102 Muller
Faculty Center, provides computing support to all members of the
campus community and provides an extensive suite of productivity
and Internet software on all publicly accessible computers. Networked
microcomputers, both Windows-based and Macintosh, are available in
more than twenty general-access computer facilities across campus.
During the summer, various labs around campus are open throughout
the day and evening (check lab doors for the current schedule or
go online to www.ithaca.edu/computing) and may be used, at no charge,
by any student with a valid Ithaca College ID. The campus is entirely
networked for high-speed data access. Students can access the e-mail
server, Nova file server, library system, College Web server, and
Internet from virtually anywhere on campus. There are no charges
for computer or network use. Members of the ACCS staff provide free
workshops and consulting services to Ithaca College students and
faculty, and the ACCS computer help desk is available to assist all
members of the College community during business hours. To open an
e-mail account or for more information, stop by the ACCS main office
or call 607-274-3030.
Conduct
All summer sessions participants are required to abide by Ithaca
College policies and procedures.
Food Court
The food court, located on the first floor of Phillips Hall, offers
a wide variety of food at modest prices. During the summer, it is
open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Health Care
During the summer, the J. David Hammond Center for Student Health
Services is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00
p.m. The staff nurse can provide first aid and treat minor problems.
A College physician is also available during regularly scheduled
hours each day. If necessary, referrals are made to local physicians
and medical facilities. Fees are charged for medications dispensed
at the health center as well as services at all off- campus physician
offices and medical facilities. Students must pay these fees at the
time of the visit.
Identification Card
Students need an Ithaca College identification card to obtain a
summer parking permit, check out books from the library, set up a
computer account to use a computer lab, pick up mail at the post
office, and use the Fitness Center and the outdoor swimming pool.
Matriculated and extramural students who already have an Ithaca College
ID card and have registered for one or both of the five-week summer
sessions may continue to use their ID, but only during the five-week
summer session(s) for which they have registered. The first replacement
fee for a lost or stolen ID card is $10.00.
New matriculated students and first-time extramural students must
have a photo taken for their ID card upon arrival on campus. Instructions
for that procedure will be sent with confirmation of summer class
registration. Late registrants must come to the summer sessions office
for instructions about their ID card.
Extramural students taking short-term workshops will be sent only
a temporary ID card with their confirmation of summer class registration.
Late registrants must come to the summer sessions office for ID instructions.
Library
The library, located on the second to fifth floors of the Gannett
Center, contains nearly half a million holdings in books, periodicals,
and microforms in addition to its electronic and online resources.
The library's catalog is easily accessible online, and the interlibrary
loan system makes even more resources available. The library has
access to over 17,000 libraries in the United States and abroad,
and its Web page provides lists of national and international electronic
resources and links that support the College's programs.
Reference librarians are available to show students and faculty
how to use various print references as well as the Internet and the
latest electronic indexing and abstracting services. They can also
recommend appropriate materials and research strategies.
The multimedia services center, located in the library, offers videos,
films, laser discs, interactive media, and educational software developed
commercially or by the faculty and staff at the College.
Mac's General Store
Mac's, a convenience store, is located next to the bookstore. Open
Monday through Friday during the summer, it sells convenience foods,
snacks, frozen foods, candy, cigarettes, soda, milk, paper products,
magazines, and health and beauty aids.

Mail should be addressed to students enrolled in the summer sessions
as follows:
[Student's name]
c/o Phillips Hall Post Office
Ithaca College
130 Phillips Hall
Ithaca, NY 14850-7076
All mail for summer sessions students is distributed from the Phillips
Hall post office. Hours for pickup are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday. Ithaca College ID is required.
Meal Plan
Prepaid meal plans are available for the summer sessions. See the
housing and meal plan application contained in this catalog.
Students do not need to live on campus in order to purchase a meal
plan. However, undergraduate students who plan to live in campus
residence halls during the summer must buy a meal plan. Those students
should complete the meal request portion of the housing and meal
plan application contained in this catalog.
On-Campus Summer Housing
Students who wish to live on campus should complete
the housing and meal plan application (see Registration
Forms) and
return it, with full payment, to the Office of Conference and Event
Services
before the start of classes. Advance registration will guarantee
a space on campus. Although the College will make every effort to
accommodate students' preferences, space is limited and available
on a first-come, first-served basis. Undergraduate students living
in campus residence halls are required to purchase a meal plan for
the duration of their stay. For those not wishing to be on the meal
plan, efficiencies may be available in the Garden Apartments, but
only for summer session I.
Residence hall rooms include twin-size beds, pillows, and one blanket
per bed. Sheets, pillowcases, and bath towels are also supplied and
can be exchanged each week. Occupants should bring a bedspread or
cover, an extra blanket (not electric), clothes hangers, and a desk
lamp. Coin-operated washers and dryers are available in each residence
hall.
Emerson Hall rooms may be available. They are equipped with all
of the above and are air-conditioned. Each room has a private bathroom
with shower. Note: Students may occupy rooms on campus only for the
duration of their courses. Summer program registrants must observe
all College residential-life regulations and will be held responsible
for their actions. Students may not cook in residence hall rooms.
Cancellation of room reservations will be accepted, and a full refund
given, up to one week before the start of the reservation. After
that time, refunds will be given, but a $50 administrative fee will
be deducted. Notice of cancellation must be received by the Office
of Conference and Event Services in writing.
Check-In
Students who make arrangements to stay in campus housing may pick
up room keys from the summer housing office, located in Eastman Hall.
Students may check in no earlier than 3:00 p.m. on the day before
their session begins. On the day their session starts, they may check
in anytime after 9:00 a.m. The summer housing office in Eastman Hall
is open until 9:00 each evening. Students unable to arrive for check-in
before 9:00 p.m. should contact the housing office, beginning May
19, at 607-274-1637 to make special arrangements.
Checkout
Students may check out on the last Friday or Saturday of each session.
Students should consult the summer housing staff in Eastman Hall
for proper checkout procedures.
Parking and Traffic Regulations
Students may park on campus without charge. However, vehicles must
be registered with the Office
of Parking and Traffic Services. (During
the summer, the office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through
Friday.) Summer sessions students with vehicles displaying a valid
red permit may park in any red lot and in the blue portion of J lot
from Commencement day through the day before classes begin for the
fall semester. Vehicles parked in restricted areas may be towed away
at the owners' expense. The speed limit on campus roads is 25 miles
per hour and 10 miles per hour in parking lots.
Public Safety
From any (noncellular) phone on campus, you can dial 911 for an
emergency response from the Office of Public Safety. The office is
open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Its mission is to provide
a safer and more secure environment for the Ithaca College community.
If you have questions or concerns regarding the safety and security
of people or property, please contact the public safety office. In
an emergency, call 911 or use an emergency or blue-light telephone.
Otherwise, call the office at 607-274-3333.
Recreation
The Fitness Center and outdoor pool are open during
the summer sessions (operating hours are posted at the center and
the pool, as well as
online on the recreational
sports website).
Summer sessions students, matriculating Ithaca College students,
and spring
2003
graduates
may use both facilities
by presenting their Ithaca College ID card. The Fitness Center has
an exercise area with over 40 pieces of cardiovascular equipment,
two weight-stack circuits, and a variety of plate-loaded and free-weight
equipment. The center's two gymnasiums are used for informal recreation
and pickup games. Equipment for these activities is available from
the equipment room. Other campus recreation facilities include the
outdoor tennis courts and track.
Services for Students with Disabilities
Ithaca College seeks to ensure that all qualified students with
disabilities are able to participate fully in its programs and activities.
If you have a documented disability or feel you may have an undiagnosed
learning problem, please feel free to contact the Office
of Academic Support Services for Students with Disabilities at 607-274-1005 (voice),

Telephones
Public telephones are not available in residence halls;
however, they are located in most classroom buildings and in the
Campus Center.
If you are staying on campus, your room will have a live telephone
jack, but you must provide your own instrument. You may make free,
unlimited calls on campus by dialing the five-digit extension number.
You may make free, unlimited calls to local and toll-free numbers
by using a PIN number issued by the summer housing office when you
check in. If you wish to make long-distance calls, you must use your
own long-distance calling card.
