Ithaca College has a national reputation for providing undergraduate students close contact with an engaging and knowledgeable faculty in a beautiful campus setting. The Summer College for High School Students offers promising students the chance to experience Ithaca College's well-regarded academic tradition and residential experience.
Attending the IC summer college will allow you to share new social and intellectual experiences with over 100 other bright, motivated students. You'll approach your college years with greater insight into the college experience. And you'll have fun. We have high expectations and promise to immerse you fully in college life.

The Summer College for High School Students Session I is a three-week program for academically talented students who have completed their sophomore or junior year in high school. It provides in-depth exposure to college academics and college life. Students select one of the following courses and earn 2 or 3 college credits.
Session I: June 26-July 15
- Acting I
- General Psychology
- Health Sciences: Foundations and Careers
- Introduction to Sport Management
- Personal Essay
- War, Hunger, and Genocide
The Summer College for High School Students Session II is primarily for students who will be high school seniors in the fall. During this five-week program, students take two college courses (from those listed below) and earn 6 to 8 credits. Exceptional sophomores who will be juniors in the fall may also apply.

The Summer College Minicourses are for students who want to work closely with a professor exploring one of the topics listed. Students may enroll in both minicourse sessions and/or the three-week session. No grades are awarded, but students receive a certificate of completion. The minicourses are open to all qualified high school students.

Note to College Students
The three-week courses are regular Ithaca College 2- and 3-credit courses offered specifically for high school students. However, college students may take these courses if they get approval. Contact the Division of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions for more information, 607-274-3143, or cess@ithaca.edu.
The five-week courses are Ithaca College 3- and 4-credit courses offered during summer session II. College students may register for these courses on a first-come, first-served basis.
The minicourses are open only to high school students and earn no credit.
Summer College Highlights
- Attend small classes, typically 6-12 students, taught by Ithaca College faculty.
- Form close, lasting friendships with bright, motivated students from diverse backgrounds.
- Sign up for a service internship: volunteer at the hospital, work with children, help build and maintain hiking trails, or work in an assisted-living center for senior citizens.
- Use Ithaca College's award-winning, air-conditioned Fitness Center.
- Try a new recreational activity: shoot pool, ride a horse, salsa dance, go bowling, learn massage, swim next to a waterfall, or play golf, tennis, soccer, or basketball.
- See a play, go to the movies, gaze at the stars, hear a concert, shop in the boutiques and bookstores on the Ithaca Commons, hike in deep, narrow gorges in the Finger Lakes region.
