Community Service Program

Michael Smith, Assistant Professor and Coordinator

The community service program enables students to become involved in a large variety of volunteer activities in the community on a credit or noncredit basis. Agencies assume no prior training and frequently provide their own orientation programs. Faculty sponsorship is required if credit is desired, and credit is variable according to the number of hours of work involved. The specific work to be done for credit is determined on an individual basis in the form of a learning contract among the student, the faculty sponsor, and the agency supervisor.
