Transfer Students

Students are encouraged to explore transfer options at Ithaca College. A transfer student is defined by Ithaca College as a high school graduate who is enrolled in or has completed 9 or more college credits. Transfer students may apply for either fall or spring admission to the College. Details about specific deadlines and admission information, along with an application, can be found on the Ithaca College admission website.
Office of Admission

Transfer applicants are reviewed based on all their college work and on their high school academic record. Transfer applicants are required to furnish the following items directly to the Office of Admission:

  • completed online application with required Ithaca College supplement
  • official high school transcripts
  • official college or university transcripts
  • SAT or ACT scores
  • letter of recommendation or teacher evaluation
  • essay with statement of academic goals and reasons for transfer

Auditions, portfolio reviews, and interviews are also required for certain programs. For specific academic information, consult the transfer student sections at the beginning of each school section in this catalog.

Credit evaluations follow every acceptance letter from Ithaca College. Credit is granted for most college-level courses with a grade of C- or higher. Upon a written request sent with transcripts, students who are considering applying to Ithaca College can be provided with an unofficial evaluation of transfer credits. All official documents, along with letters of inquiry, should be mailed to the Office of Admission, to the attention of the transfer admission coordinator.

A special transfer transition program provides academic advising, testing, and registration information for incoming transfer students. Details about this program are sent to all matriculating students by the Office of New Student Programs.

Transfer students are encouraged to visit Ithaca College to tour the campus and meet with an admission representative or a faculty member. Contact the Office of Admission at 800-429-4274 or 607-274-3124, by fax at 607-274-1900, or by e-mail at admission@ithaca.edu.
