Classification of Majors

Each of the majors offered by the departments in Humanities and Sciences is classified into one or more of the following four liberal arts categories: fine and performing arts (FA), humanities (HU), natural sciences and mathematics (NS), and social and behavioral sciences (SS).  These categories are not synonymous with general education designations for students in the School of Humanities and Sciences.  The majors that are represented in each classification are listed below:
