Transfer Students

Students are encouraged to explore transfer options at Ithaca College. A transfer student is defined by Ithaca College as one who has matriculated in a degree program at another institution or a high school graduate who is enrolled in or has completed nine or more college credits. Transfer students may apply for either fall or spring admission to the College. Details about specific deadlines and admission information, along with an application, can be found in the Ithaca College admission prospectus, which is available from the Office of Admission.

Transfer applicants are reviewed based on all their college work and on their high school academic record. Typically, the admission committee can respond to a completed application within two weeks. Transfer applicants are required to furnish the following items directly to the Office of Admission:

· signed, completed application

· official high school transcripts

· official college or university transcripts

· letter of recommendation

· statement of academic goals and past experiences

Auditions, portfolio reviews, and interviews are also required for certain programs. For specific academic information, consult the transfer student sections in this catalog at the beginning of each school section.

Credit evaluations follow every acceptance letter from Ithaca College. Credit is granted for most college-level courses with a grade of C- or higher. If you are considering applying to Ithaca College, we can provide you with an unofficial evaluation of transfer credits if you send us your transcripts and course catalogs. All official documents, along with letters of inquiry, should be mailed to the Office of Admission, to the attention of the transfer admission coordinator.

A special orientation program provides academic advising, testing, and registration information for incoming transfer students. Details about this program are sent to all matriculating students by the Office of First Year Programs and Orientation.

Transfer students are encouraged to visit Ithaca College to tour the campus and meet with an admission representative or a faculty member.
