Linguistics Courses

328-23200    Introduction to Linguistics      SS LA

     Study of the fundamentals of spoken language. Techniques in language analysis, grammar, historical linguistics, language change. Prerequisites: One course in the humanities or social sciences. Open to all students. It is recommended that modern language majors have completed or be taking Intermediate I (3xx-20100) or Intermediate II (3xx-20200) of a modern language. Students may not earn credit for both 328-23200 and 328-23300. 3 credits. (S,Y)

328-23300    Introduction to Linguistics      SS LA

     Required for speech-language pathology and audiology majors. A general study of all aspects of normal communication - language acquisition, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, changes, dialects, etc. Students may not earn credit for both 328-23300 and 328-23200. 3 credits. (F-S,Y)
