Health CenterThe College's J. David Hammond Center for Student Health Services is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. This accreditation is a distinction that recognizes the quality of the health center's facilities, program, and staff. In addition to promoting the health of the College community, an important mission of the health center is teaching about health and illness, both in the classroom and as part of medical care. The staff consists of full-time physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, and support personnel. The Ithaca College student health service urges all patients to comply with treatment and will continue to educate students about the dangers of noncompliance. However, refusal of treatment will in no way affect the care or treatment given to the patient at any future date. A full statement of patients' rights is posted at the health center. Prior to the first day of classes, every matriculating student (freshman, transfer, or adult student) is required to complete and submit the Health Certification Form to the College health center. Students who do not comply with this requirement will not be allowed to remain on campus, and their course registrations will be canceled. In the event that a student does not receive a copy of this form in the mail, he or she may obtain one from the College health center, or online at www.ithaca.edu/health. |
