DIVISION OF CONTINUING EDUCATION AND SUMMER SESSIONS
Ithaca College - Cornell University Exchange Program

This reciprocal arrangement between Ithaca College and Cornell University allows matriculated full-time students with prior approval and within stated stipulations, to cross-register for one course per semester. This arrangement is available during the fall and spring semesters only, and is contingent on space availability. A maximum of 12 credits may be taken through this program. No additional tuition is charged except in the case of students enrolled during any one semester for a total of more than 18 credits (Ithaca College and Cornell combined). Those students are subject to additional tuition charges on a per-credit basis.

For further information, kindly contact the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies at gps@ithaca.edu or 607-274-3143.

If you are an IC student, exchange program petitions are available at the office of Graduate and Professional Studies (120 Towers Concourse) or you can click here for a pdf version of the petition.

PROGRAM POLICIES

  1. Exchange program participants must be full-time undergraduate or full-time graduate students at their home institution (undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more credits; graduate students paying for 9 or more credits).
  2. Students may take only courses not offered at their home institution (schedule conflicts or unavailability of courses in a given semester do not constitute valid rationales for enrollment as an exchange student).
  3. Courses must be applicable to the student's program of study.
  4. Enrollment is contingent upon space availability at the host institution.
  5. Only one course or 4 credits per semester is permitted (whichever is greater).
  6. Students may take a maximum of 12 credits in four years through the exchange program.
  7. The exchange program is available fall and spring semesters only.
  8. Credits and transcripts are automatically transferred to the student's home institution.
  9. Ithaca College students have quality points and credits earned at Cornell included in their cumulative GPA. Cornell students should consult their respective dean's office regarding the established practice of credits earned through the exchange program relative to their GPA.
