Aging, Chronic Disease and the Significance of Therapeutic Dance and Movement

Jill Bunce, MA

Jill Bunce is a Senior Lecturer in Dance Movement Therapy, Subject Leader for Dance and Movement Studies and Advisor for Disability for the School of Education, Health and Sciences at the University of Derby, U.K. She is particularly interested in neuropsychiatry and immunology. Much of her work is with the elderly and Parkinson's Disease patients.

Therapeutic Dance may be used as an intervention to reduce symptoms of age related chronic disease. This presentation will include the uses of dance and its relationship to well-being and the cognitive, emotional and physical aspects of therapeutic intervention.
