The mission of the Ithaca College Center for Faculty Excellence is to support our faculty members as complete teachers and scholars. The Center coordinates faculty programs, projects, and initiatives that enhance the college's Institutional Plan, particularly those related to experiential and performance-based learning and to diversity. Since the College has a commitment to "share the responsibilities of citizenship and service in the global community," (Mission Statement) and since the Faculty Handbook incorporates an expanded definition of scholarship, our faculty development efforts integrate the traditional areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. We understand that they must intersect and nurture each other in a healthy academic environment.
Susanne Morgan has taught in the Department of Sociology at Ithaca College since 1983 and in higher education since 1972. Since 2001 she has been assigned half time to coordinate faculty development activities.
