Mentoring for Writing

Faculty and staff, do you want to work on your scholarship this semester? Do you have a chapter, proposal, grant, review, or book that you want to finish (or start!?)? Would you like to be part of a writing group...?

The Center for Faculty Excellence is sponsoring two kinds of writing groups this year:

•in-person, small groups that will meet regularly (approximately bi-weekly) to read very brief samples (4 - 6 pages) of members' work
•online, multi-person communities where members set their own goals, mark their progress, and reflect on their process

The groups are not mutually exclusive -- faculty and staff may participate in both. You need not be actively writing to participate - you may be at the beginning of some ideas, or just interested in working in a small, supportive writing community.

To join the in-person groups now forming (or get more information), please contact Rebecca Plante (Sociology & Planned Studies) at Please provide some scheduling information (ideal days and times).

To join the online community, please contact Bhavani Arabandi (Sociology) at
